GB’s Charlotte Bankes Tops the Podium Again

Charlotte Bankes secured victory at Sunday’s Gudauri Snowboard Cross World Cup in Georgia. Her excellent run of form continues. UPDATED

It was an impressive comeback following a shock qualification stage exit in the first of the weekend’s double-header contests.

Having failed to progress to Quarter Finals in a surprise qualification stage elimination on Friday, Bankes bounced back in typically determined style with her fifth World Cup victory of the season in the Georgian resort of Gudauri.

Bankes dominated proceedings in Gudauri finishing top at each stage of racing, before coming from the back of the field to seize victory in the Big Final.

“It’s an amazing win,” Bankes said.

“Friday was tough but my coach Jerome [Choupin] found the words to refocus me for today and we put a massive team effort out there to pull it off so I’m really happy.”

Bankes is 57 points above second-placed Lea Casta.

She is attempting to win a third Crystal Globe – as the best overall competitor in the snowboard cross World Cup series – after also claiming the title in 2022 and 2023.

There are three World Cup races left to come this season.

Full Podium:

  1. Charlotte Bankes (GBR) – 2. Julia Pereira de Sousa (FRA) – 3. Lea Casta (FRA)

On the Telemark World Cup tour, GB’s Jaz Taylor secured another victory at the third of the weekend’s Krvarvec World Cup races, with a Gold medal in the Classic discipline.

The result provides Taylor with her fifth World Cup victory of the season, while she currently leads in the Overall, Sprint, and Classic discipline overall standings.
