She finished third in the slalom in Are Sweden and overtook the Swedish legend, Ingemar Stenmark who competed in the 1970s and 80s.
The 29 year old US skier is back after injury has affected her season.
Shiffrin was racing in just her fifth slalom race since suffering a puncture wound to her abdomen and severe muscle trauma when she crashed out during a race in November.

She recently became the first alpine skier to reach 100 World Cup wins.
The eight-time Crystal Globe slalom winner missed four races this season due to the crash.
She is unlikely to make it a ninth with only the season finale in Sun Valley, Idaho at the end of March remaining.
“Somehow we have to get to the USA, but there are some travel challenges, we’re going to try and find some training in Europe, then work our way to the US,” she said.
“There is one more race this season. I’m looking forward to it.”
