Sale of Inghams Set to Go Ahead This Week

The UK ski operator was owned by the Swiss company Hotelplan. The German company, DERTOUR Group, says its acquisition of Hotelplan Group is expected to go ahead by the end of this week.
The German travel company announced in February it was buying the Hotelplan Group.

The deal includes Hotelplan’s UK brands Inghams, Explore Worldwide, Inntravel and Santa’s Lapland.
Inghams is one of the oldest UK ski travel operators and was started by Walter Ingham in 1934.
It has grown to become one of the most trusted UK ski brands.
The Swiss Competition Commission examined the move as it was concerned about a dominant market position in Switzerland.
DERTOUR says the three-month investigation has ended and the deal has been approved ‘without conditions or obligations’.
“The Competition Commission in Switzerland has given the green light for the acquisition,” said the DERTOUR Group CEO, Christoph Debus.
“We are extremely happy with the decision and have promptly initiated all necessary steps to implement the transaction, aiming to conclude the process as quickly as possible.
“We are very much looking forward to warmly welcoming our new colleagues from Hotelplan Group.
“Together, we will focus on our shared future.
“We are impressed by how the Hotelplan team managed the period of uncertainty during the in-depth review.
“All the more, we look forward to working together as one team.
“Together, we will be able to offer guests an even wider and more attractive range of travel and holiday options – with the promise of consistently high reliability, service and quality.”
DERTOUR already owns more than 130 companies, including Kuoni, CV Villas, Jules Verne, Kirker Holidays, Journey Latin America and Carrier in the UK.
