IKON Pass Adds Aosta Valley in Italy

It follows the announcement of Vail Resort’s Epic Pass adding more Austrian resorts and the Indy Pass set to announce more resorts in Europe this week.

There are five new resorts on the pass:

  • Courmayeur
  • Cervinia
  • La Thuile
  • Monterosa
  • Pila

Full Ikon Pass holders will have 7 days combined among these resorts, and Ikon Base Pass holders will have 5 days combined among them — neither pass will be subject to blackout dates at any of the five new destinations.

The five new European mountains join nine others European areas already on the pass:

  • Chamonix in France
  • Dolomiti Superski in Italy
  • Grandvalira Resorts in Andorra
  • Kitzbühel and Ischgl in Austria
  • Zermatt and St. Moritz in Switzerland

Beyond Europe, the Ikon pass offers access to ski resorts in the USA  and Canada, as well as in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Chile.

Full Ikon Pass holders have unlimited access to 18 resorts, and up to 7 days each at 43 others.

“We are proud and excited to join the Ikon Pass community,” said the project representative in the Aosta Valley, Danilo Chatrian.

“This partnership opens the door to US skiers and riders, offering the opportunity to discover the breathtaking scenery and exceptional winter experiences that make Valle d’Aosta a true hidden gem of the Alps.”

Currently the adult Ikon Pass is $1,430 (£1,064), and $1,090 (£811 ) for children 12 and under.

The adult Ikon Base Pass is $1,010 (£751),  and $740 (£550) for children 12 and under.

Ikon prices rise and fall, usually going up in October and again in November before they sell out.

The three passes are  mainly aimed at skiers from North America who want to visit resorts around the world.

Many more are coming to Europe.

For Europeans it can be attractive if they have the time to ski often and like to visit different ski areas.

PlanetSKI used the Indy Pass in Japan last winter.
