Snowsport England Petition BBC to Bring Back Ski Sunday

The organisation started a petition that has received more than 26,000 signatures. It has now sent the petition to the BBC along with a letter asking for the BBC to re-think. NEW
Ski Sunday had been on-air for 48 years and was staple viewing for generations of skiers & snowboarders.
We reported on the ending of the programme as the decision was released on September 1st:
The petition gained 10,000 signatures in the first 24-hours and we followed its progress on PlanetSKI:
“Following our Ski Sunday petition, we’ve sent an open letter to the BBC,” said Snowsport England.
“Thank you to everyone who signed and supported the campaign.
“Your voices matter, and we’re continuing to call for snowsports to have the coverage and recognition it deserves.”

The former co-presenter of the programme, Chemmy Alcott, has been vocal in her condemnation of the move by the BBC.

At the time the BBC said it was constantly assessing how it provided value across all its platforms, and that Ski Sunday had been “retired” as part of that ongoing evaluation.
“Changing audience behaviours and the tough financial decisions needed to make savings requirements mean BBC Sport must continually review how it delivers value for license payers and serves audience across all platforms,” BBC Sport said in a statement.
“This decision forms part of that process.”
The head of BBC Sport events, Philip Bernie, described Ski Sunday as “iconic” and spoke of the pride the BBC had taken in the role it had played in bringing world-class winter sport to British audiences across generations.
It remains to be seen how the BBC reacts to the petition and the letter from Snowsport England, but a change of heart is extremely unlikely.
