Ben’s Bus Celebrates 20th Birthday

The airport to resort transfer company has launched a new web site and is offering some birthday discounts. It all started back in 2006. NEW

It began from humble beginnings back in 2006, with a youthful Ben running just a few of buses from Grenoble airport to the resorts of Les2Alpes and Alpe d’Huez.

It now runs ski transfers from Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble Airports to more than 20 ski resorts across France.

It has navigated countless busy alpine roads, dealt with delayed flights, landslides, rockslides, road closures, conflicts, pandemics, farmer protests, French strikes, volcanic eruptions and of course Brexit.

“More than anything though, we’re proud of the reputation we’ve built along the way,” said Ben Keown.

“Many of our customers come back year after year, while others discover us through recommendations from friends and family.

“Our reviews and repeat bookings are a huge part of what has made the business what it is today, and we’re grateful to everyone who has travelled with us, recommended us, worked with us or helped us along the way.”

Ben’s Bus is offering 5% of all routes for the next 20 days.

Timeline:

2006 : Ben’s Bus is incorporated in October 2006 by Ben, a mountain-lover who wanted to get skiers out of hire cars and minibuses and onto bigger, more economical direct buses.

After checking the legalities and earning the blessing from Grenoble airport and the ski resorts of  Alpe d’Huez and Les2Alpes, he formed a relationship with a local coach company in the mountains.

2007 : With a little loan from his friend, he ran his first bus in January 2007 – with coffees and croissants for his first-ever customers.

The aim was always, and remains today, to offer reliable, affordable and straightforward ski transfers.

Now it’s backed up by the experience of a company that’s been doing it for 20 years.

2009 : Transfers from Geneva airport launched, as well as new routes from Grenoble Airport to the big Tarentaise resorts of Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Tignes, Val d’Isere, Meribel and Mottaret.

2010 : Nathalie joins Ben’s Bus. and is with the company to this day.

As Ops Manager, she’s an integral part of the Ben’s Bus fabric and operations, beloved and respected by customers, drivers, reps and Ben.

2011 :  La Plagne and Les Arcs added to growing list of routes.

2014 : Lyon airport services  start to the Tarentaise resorts  of Val Thorens, Tignes and Val d’Isere.

2020 : Covid hits. Ben’s Bus lays on emergency buses to help get people home.

2022 : After a 2 year hiatus, Ben’s Bus returns from the brink of bankruptcy and starts running buses again.

2023 : Alpe d’Huez and Les2Alpes services start form Lyon airport.

2024 : Ben’s Bus goes Carbon Neutral with its ground-breaking new initiative.

2026 : New website launched and ApplePay and GooglePay finally accepted.

“We’ve always known that getting from an airport to a ski resort isn’t quite the same as an ordinary airport transfer,” added Ben.

“Mountain roads can be affected by snow, ice, traffic and busy holiday periods, while journey times can vary considerably depending on the weather and road conditions.

“We knew 20 years ago, as we do now, that customers shouldn’t have to worry about that.

“This is why our website booking engine was built so you could just put your flight details in and our bus times would appear.

“We’ve already applied our expert knowledge and experience to ensure enough time is allowed to get you to your airport in time for your flight.”
