Lindsey Vonn Named in US Alpine Ski Team

It comes despite uncertainty over her future in the sport as she recovers from surgery following a crash at last February’s Milan-Cortina Olympics. NEW

Despite her injury, Vonn was ranked 12th overall last season and fifth in the final downhill standings.

She was also the highest ranked U.S. female skier in Super-G.

She has said she was unsure if she would return to competitive ski racing after suffering a complex tibia fracture in a crash during an Olympic downhill race on February 8th.

She has had several operations since and is expected to have an ACL operation next month with a recovery period.

Confirming Vonn as part of the 49-athlete roster for the US Alpine Ski Team, US Ski and Snowboard said she still needed more time to complete the recovery process.

“Three-time Olympic medalist and 84-time World Cup winner Lindsey Vonn, who continues to recover from injuries sustained at the Milan-Cortina Games, is also named to the team,” read the statement.
