The International Ski and Snowboard Federation, FIS, has launched Ski & Snowboard World Cup.
It’s a 24/7, free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel that will go live in November across leading platforms in the United States and Canada.
It comes from an expanded partnership between FIS, US Ski & Snowboard & NBC.
Throughout the season, skiing and snowboarding can be viewed in the United States not only via the FAST channel, but also via NBC platforms and the FIS You Tube channel.
In Canada, coverage is set to be broader than ever, with CBC and its streaming platform, Gem, having acquired their most comprehensive rights package in over a decade.
Year-round programming dedicated entirely to snow sports will include live FIS World Cup events across a wide array of disciplines ─ from Alpine and Cross-Country Skiing to Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined, and the full range of Freestyle, Freeski, and Snowboard competitions.
Beyond live competitions, viewers will enjoy a range of documentaries, classic races, and behind-the-scenes access to the personalities that shape snow sports.
“The launch of Ski & Snowboard World Cup reflects our commitment to developing our audience in North America, which is at the same time one of our core markets and also one with immense untapped potential for growth,” said the FIS Chief Commercial Officer, Stefan Brütsch.
“Looking ahead, we are observing how the global FAST ecosystem is maturing, and our next logical step would be to broaden this direct-to-fan distribution to other markets.”
