The highest mountain in the Alps and the tallest in western Europe is reported to be 4,807m and has grown by 1.88m since last measurements were last taken in 2023.

The height of the mountain changes due to snow and ice fluctuations.

Three years it ago it had shrunk by 2m from the previous reading in 2021.

The height of the mountain has been measured every two years to three years since 2001 in order to gather information about the impact of climate change on the Alps.

Researchers say Mont Blanc’s height is now close to what it was at the end of the 19th century.
