It had been heading to Narvik but the resort is not ready as it prepares for the 2029 Alpine Ski World Championships.

Kvitfjell will now host the women’s downhill and Super-G races from March 10–13, 2027.

Kvitfjell has experienced organising staff and proven World Cup infrastructure.

  • Wednesday, March 10, 2027: Women’s Downhill Training
  • Thursday, March 11, 2027: Women’s Downhill Training
  • Friday, March 12, 2027: Women’s Downhill
  • Saturday, March 13, 2027: Women’s Super-G

This reallocation ensures the women’s tour retains its crucial late-season speed events just ahead of the World Cup Finals.

The decision to pull out of the 2027 World Cup was made by the Narvik LOC following a FIS inspection on October 8–9, 2026.

During the inspection, FIS Race Director Peter Gerdol noted that “nothing is ready” at the Narvikfjellet venue.

We reported on it at the time on PlanetSKI:

“For a World Cup event we simply cannot afford to take chances,” local organisers stated.

They stated that the decision was driven by risk management and security reasons, rather than a lack of sporting capability.
