The Milan Prosecutor’s Office is pursuing an investigation into alleged corruption in public works tenders for the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics in Italy next February.

The Olympic Village is subject to intense examination, with raids, arrests and cash seizures.

The probe centres on a major real estate development in the city centre but also extends to projects in peripheral areas, such as the Olympic complex.

During last week’s operations, offices and private homes were raided, six arrest warrants were issued and €120,000 in cash were found in the possession of a construction entrepreneur.

According to judicial sources, the amount was discovered during a house search. The entrepreneur’s identity has not been disclosed.
