The Organising Committee of the French Games has unveiled a preferred venue chart after Meribel threatened to walk away. Negotiations Continue.
Earlier this month Meribel said it would withdraw from The Games after a proposal was put forward for Val d’Isere to host the women’s alpine skiing events.
Meribel understood it was to be the host venue and it would have left the French resort with only the para-alpine skiing.
Initially the International Olympic Committee and French organisers unveiled a plan that placed men’s alpine skiing in Courchevel and women’s alpine skiing in Meribel.
The neighbouring resorts successfully co-hosted the 2023 Alpine World Ski Championships that was seen as a trial-run for the Olympics.
We reported on the row at the time:
The French Alps 2030 organising committee has now released a preferred layout structured around four regions that is consistent with the original bid.
