There are set to be more women competing at the Milan-Cortina Games across a greater number of events than ever before.
From record athlete quotas to new female events.
- Milan-Cortina: 47% women
- Beijing: 44.7% women
Out of 116 events, 50 are for women.
There are four new women’s event:
- Freestyle skiing dual moguls
- Luge doubles
- Ski jumping large individual hill
- Ski mountaineering sprint.
There are 12 mixed events and women will compete in 53.4% of all competitions.
The @milanocortina26 Olympics will see a record number of women’s events.
From 46 at Beijing 2022 ➡️ to 50 at #MilanoCortina2026, making these the most gender-balanced Olympic Winter Games in history ⛷️

The IOC encourages all national Olympic committees to appoint both female and male flagbearers.
In the first Olympic Winter Games in Chamonix in 1924, women represented just 4.3% of athletes and only competed in figure skating.
