Travel by Train To Morzine & Save Money in Resort

Skiers and snowboarders opting for a low-carbon ski holiday to Morzine, in the French Alps, can save money when choosing to travel to resort by train thanks to the AlpinExpress Pass.

The offer comes from Montagne Verte, a non-profit association founded and funded by the community of Morzine.

The AlpinExpress Pass gives skiers and snowboarders up to 10 % off ski passes, ski hire, accommodation, and eating out.

It has a wide range of partners:

  • Chalet company AliKats,
  • Boutique hotel The Farmhouse,
  • Local brewery Bec Jaune,
  • Café Satellite Coffee,
  • Transfer organisation Skiidy Gonzales.

To receive the AlpinExpress Pass, guests need to email Montagne Verte with proof of purchase and train travel information, and in return receive a personalised QR code unlocking more than 40 exclusive discounts in Morzine.

With most carbon emissions relating to a ski holiday coming from plane travel.

Morzine is seen as one of the resorts leading the way in making ski holidays more sustainable, and has been awarded the prestigious Flocon Vert for its initiatives:

Montagne Verte introduced the AlpinExpress Pass last winter to make low-carbon train travel a cost-effective and attractive option for people travelling to Morzine.

The addition of a 10% discount on ski passes for the Morzine – Les Gets ski area, plus increase in partners, has added a significant boost to the wide range of incentives offered.

The journey from London St-Pancras to Cluses or Thonon-les-Bains (with one change from Paris Gare du Nord to Paris Gare du Lyon) takes less than nine hours.

Guests need not worry about bringing skis, snowboards, sledges etc. as there are no baggage restrictions.

Instead, have a drink, play cards, and enjoy the ever-changing scenery.

Morzine is a 40-minute drive from Cluses and Thonon-les-Bains (the closest stations), both of which have bus links to Morzine, while Geneva station is an hour and a half away.

Private transfers from these stations can also be booked with local transfer companies who are AlpinExpress partners.

“The Morzine-Les Gets ski area has been working for many years to preserve it’s natural resources, ” said the Commercial Services Manager, on behalf of the Morzine and Les Gets ski areas, Jean-Damien Baud.

“They have made several eco-commitments, including the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

“The modes of transport used by our clients to reach us represent the most significant part of these emissions.

“We want to encourage our visitors to use more environmentally friendly means of transportation.

“We are therefore pleased to offer a 10% discount off our internet rate on Morzine-les Gets 3 to 12 day ski passes from this winter 2022-2023, for anyone who travels to our resorts by train.

The 6-day Morzine-Les Gets adult ski pass is offered at €252 at the cash desk and €228 on the internet.

It will only cost €205.20 for people who used the train. To take advantage of this discount, simply email your train tickets to Montagne Verte and ask for your ‘green QR code’”.
