10 FOUND ALIVE IN ITALIAN HOTEL AVALANCHE

DRAMATIC CHAIRLIFT RESCUE

A man was caught by the straps of his rucksack as he was getting off a chairlift and was left dangling in mid-air. It cut off his air supply and he was saved by a professional slackliner who climbed along the cable to rescue him.

SECOND CHAIRLIFT FALL AT US RESORT

A young boy fell from a chairlift in the Utah resort of Sundance and was left dangling. The straps on his rucksack saved him from falling further. It is the second such incident this season in the resort. NEW

A mother fell to her death from a chairlift in Colorado, a skier hit a tree in Utah, another skier died in an avalanche in Washington State & the body of a missing snowboarder has been found in Wyoming. UPDATED

FIRE AT HISTORIC HOTEL IN BANFF

The blaze broke out in The Mount Royal Hotel in the Canadian ski town in the early hours of Thursday morning. UPDATED

AARON McLEAN VOTED BEST BRITISH SKIER 2016

The Scottish skier & coach died in an accident in April 2016 and has been posthumously awarded the title by Fall-Line skiing magazine. Parasnowsport athlete Menna Fitzpatrick was voted Britain’s Best Up-and-Coming skier.

INVESTIGATION INTO ITALIAN GONDOLA ACCIDENT

The incident happened on Xmas Eve in the Italian resort of Cervinia after strong winds caused wires to get tangled. 130 people were trapped.
