French Snowboard Champion Dies in Avalanche
40-year old Julie Pomagalski has died in an avalanche in Switzerland. She was a two time Olympian and granddaughter of Jean Pomagalski, who invented the first ski lift in 1934.

The Swedish Olympic Committee President, Mats Årjes, has put his hat in the ring for the top job. His fellow Swede, the billionaire Johan Eliasch, was nominated by GB Snowsport last year. The Swiss Ski President, Urs Lehmann, is also in the contest.
