SNOW TO RETURN TO THE ALPS THIS WEEK

It’s been dry & mild with no significant snow for weeks, but that’s about to change. In Canada it is so cold that Lake Louise closed. UPDATED

The weather’s fine for many this week after the big early-season snowfalls. Conditions are good as more resorts get ready to open at the weekend.

WE’RE IN THE THICK OF IT

8,000 people were skiing in the Austrian resort of Stubai last weekend in the best October conditions in recent memory. But where are the Brits? PlanetSKI reports from the Austrian Tirol.

Registration for World Snow Day Opens Today

The 12th edition of World Snow Day will take place on the 15th January 2023.

The World Snow Day Awards will also be handed out.

The events aims to get more young people into snowsports.

Sunshine Village Re-opens for Canada Day

The lifts will start again from June 28th to July 3rd and will be open on Wednesday 1st July – Canada Day.

The resort hasn’t opened at this time of year for over three decades.

They are Men’s Freestyle Skiing Dual Moguls, Women’s Freestyle Skiing Dual Moguls & Women’s Ski Jumping Large Hill.

State of Emergency Set to be Declared in Italian Alps as Drought Worsens

There has been no rain for almost 4-months.

Last winter snowfall levels were down 70%, so there has been precious little meltwater filling the rivers and reservoirs.
